Michael had the idea for the Special Needs Baseball League in the spring of 2009, and within weeks implemented his plans. He is heavily involved in the West Tennessee community. He is active in the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation, serves on the Ayers Children's Medical Center Board, LIVESTRONG Army Leader for the state of TN, an advocate for Better County Schools, and Jackson Roadrunners. Michael also enjoys being a mentor to 2 kids through Youth Villages in JAckson, TN. He once ran 86 miles from Jackson, Tenn. to Memphis to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Michael brings a wealth of experience to his first non-profit venture. When asked what he wants to do in the long run, his typical response is to "make a difference."

Mallory Watkins began her involvement with the Special Needs Baseball Foundation as a volunteer in the field. After the first pitch was thrown she knew she wanted to join forces with Michael in the expansion of this project. Mallory is a special education teacher at Caywood Elementary School in Lexington, Tennessee and has many years of experience in working with children who have special needs. Mallory is trained in the Picture Exchange Communication System and has special training in working with children on the Autism Spectrum through Vanderbilt University. Mallory has dedicated her life to helping children with special needs and believes "We should acknowledge differences, we should greet differences, until difference makes no difference anymore."
